Omaha Police issue first mask mandate citations

The first citations for violations of Omaha’s mask mandate were issued to employees of two businesses, our partners at the Omaha World-Herald reported on Saturday.

One citation was issued to an employee at Anytime Laundry, 9720 Park Drive, on Monday. The other one was issued to an employee of Rick’s Meats, 2929 N. 204th St., on Wednesday.

According to the World-Herald, officers responded to a complaint at Anytime Laundry that signs mandating masks were not posted as required under the city ordinance. Officers talked to the worker and said that the Douglas County Health Department had fielded “several” complaints and left messages for the establishment with no answer.

The paper reported that the employee called a manager who told officers the signs were posted but must have been torn down. Officers then issued the citation to the employee and suggested the employee call the owner to get the signs up.

Details of the citation issued to the Rick’s Meats employee weren’t available.
