Nebraska Women’s Basketball Overpowers North Alabama; Natalie Potts Injured During Game

Date:

Nebraska Women’s Basketball had a big win over North Alabama on Tuesday night, cruising to an 85-48 victory at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The Huskers are now 5-0, while North Alabama drops to 2-3.

Nebraska started strong, leading by 11 points after the first quarter and stretching that lead to 13 in the second. But then, things took a tough turn.

A turnover led to a fast break for North Alabama. As Natalie Potts tried to stop the play, she hurt her knee while trying to block the shot and collapsed on the floor. She was helped off the court, and her teammates were clearly upset.

Nebraska coach Amy Williams shared that Potts was understandably upset, and the team was feeling the same. “We’ll just wait to see what the doctors say and figure out next steps,” she said after the game.

Potts returned in the second half but was seen sitting behind the bench in street clothes and using crutches. At that point, the doctors hadn’t yet given a clear idea of how long she might be out.

Meanwhile, Nebraska kept their focus on the game and pulled away, eventually leading by as much as 39 points before finishing with a 37-point lead.

The Huskers shot 48.4% for the game, hitting 8 of 21 three-pointers. North Alabama struggled, shooting just 28.8%, including only 7 of 18 from beyond the arc.

Five Huskers scored in double figures, with Callin Hake leading the way with 17 points. Jessica Petrie added 14, while Britt Prince and Alberte Rimdal each chipped in 13.

Next up for Nebraska is a road game at Creighton on Friday. The game will tip off at 4 p.m. CST and will be streamed on FloHoops (subscription required).
