Jenny Mollen had a surprising and somewhat embarrassing experience while flying — she found out she had lice while on an airplane!
In an Instagram video she posted in October, Jenny explained that she had been feeling an itchy scalp for about two weeks and thought it might just be a sign of perimenopause. But when she was on a flight with her friend Caroline, Caroline noticed something odd. “Guess what? I have f—ing lice,” Jenny said, shocked by the realization.
Jenny, who’s married to actor Jason Biggs, admitted she had no idea where she got the lice from but suspected it was from someone she didn’t want to call out. To make things even worse, she was on a five-hour flight at the time. Jenny had to get creative and made a makeshift “hairnet” out of a plastic bag from her headphones to keep her hair contained. The bag didn’t cover all of her hair, but it was the best she could do in the moment.
She also shared that she had been dealing with the itchy scalp for weeks, and now she was worried her whole family — Jason and their two sons — might have lice too. Jenny got a lot of reactions from people online who weren’t thrilled about her traveling with lice. One comment said, “I wouldn’t be on a plane with untreated lice,” to which Jenny responded that she didn’t even know for sure she had lice until after landing in New York.
Some people suggested she should have told the flight attendants about the lice, while others said she should’ve kept her hair fully covered. Jenny explained that she only confirmed the lice after the flight, and she couldn’t have known earlier.
After getting home, Jenny shared an update where she showed how she was treating the lice. She said she used special shampoo to kill the lice and was now getting them combed out of her hair. She also addressed the criticism she received online, saying, “I didn’t know I had lice until I was on the plane. I thought it was just perimenopause symptoms.”
Jenny even joked that her husband Jason was partly to blame. She had asked him to check her scalp before the flight, but he didn’t spot anything. It looks like her itchy scalp turned out to be something a little more surprising than she expected!
